Soft knowledge sharing holds key to human resource development

Teaching, a key activity in higher education generates tremendous volume of soft knowledge that goes mostly undocumented for want of appropriate capture methods and taxonomies. As senior faculty retire from our educational institutions annually, the state loses large store houses of tacit knowledge built up over decades of experience and training. Tapping into this large unexplored mine of hidden knowledge that exists in the heads of people would pay rich dividends to Higher Education (HE). The project being proposed here attempts to plug this knowledge drain and build a repository on soft knowledge on teaching that could contribute to educational development. Knowledge Management has made large inroads into the field of Higher Education and Universities and Colleges all over the world have started thinking about  innovative methods to retain this soft knowledge for the posterity.

Rapid technological developments of the present day world offer simple tools to overcome the barriers to tacit knowledge capture. For example, the Rosetta Video and Project Debriefing approaches found effective in soft knowledge capture has considerable application here too.
